What Is Robot Design?
Robot design is the process of planning, creating, testing, and improving a robot before building the real one. It’s a cycle of thinking, making, and refining
What Are Robot Design Tools?
Robot design tools are computer applications that help engineers design, program, test, and improve robots. They allow you to create detailed digital models, write programs using code or visual blocks, run virtual experiments to test behavior, and refine performance before building anything physical.
Modelling Tools:
Modelling tools are software applications used to create a digital 3D model of a robot. Popular examples include Tinkercad, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, and BrickLink Studio.
Programming Tools:
Programming tools let engineers write the instructions that control a robot’s behavior. Popular examples include Arduino IDE, LEGO SPIKE App, EV3 Classroom, and Visual Studio Code.
What Is an IDE?
An IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is a single software application that combines everything a programmer needs: writing code, editing code, finding errors, uploading programs to the robot, and testing programs.
Simulation Tools:
Simulation tools let engineers test robots in a virtual environment — no physical parts needed. Popular examples include Virtual Robotics Toolkit, Gazebo, and Webots.
